Sesto San Giovanni drinkable water treatment plan

Sesto San Giovanni drinkable water treatment plan

Country and reference standards

Sesto San Giovanni (MI), Italy

Project

Sesto San Giovanni potable water treatment plant.

Description of the supply

The plant involves the extraction of ground water from 20 wells and its purification through a carbon filtration process, UV rays and chemical doses. The supply included the hardware and software design and executive engineering, the supply of electrical distribution and automation panels, the electrical system and the commissioning for the management and control of the entire system.

Technology used

Dual Siemens S7-300 automation Master redundant, redundant, WinCC Professional supervision, local panel PC with Wincc Advanced, 4 Siemens 250 KW inverters, 20 modbus TCP gateways, 1 inspector DP device for monitoring the profibus network, and a field gate which allows the configuration of the ring-connected PA instrumentation from the engineering station. Data collection from distribution panels and packages takes place in Modbus TCP through dedicated gateways. Vibrations of the lifting pumps for predictive failure maintenance are acquired by the control unit. The plant consists of around 3000 IO points.

Distinctive elements

The company network communicates directly with the automation masters for the centralized management of the plant from the control room. The system is equipped with an advanced diagnostic that allows you to monitor all devices even in the event of automation master failures.

Customers benefits

The purification plant is totally centralized. Centralization makes it possible to optimize personnel management, intervention time for problem solving and energy monitoring in real time, thereby acting on consumption optimization.
